Serdecznie zapraszam Was wszystkich do włączenia się w proponowane działania!

Stéphane Hild
Dyrektor Generalny

Dear colleagues,

I have the pleasure to invite you to the third edition of the Citizen Commitment Week, which will be organised between 10 and 18 June 2010.

We will have the opportunity to participate in diverse initiatives for the benefit of the “Partnership for Children” programme of the Foundation Wspólna Droga – United Way Polska that we support.

There will be meetings with interesting guests, reports on progress of projects supported by SG CIB and many possibilities of joint action and personal commitment. This year our CCW in Poland will start on Saturday, 12 June, with a family event – a Charity Bike Ride & Run, in which I particularly encourage you to participate.

I warmly invite you all to join in the proposed initiatives!

Young visitors came to see SG CIB

On 17 June, our Branch received unusual visitors. A group of 10 children aged 6-10, Światoteka club charges, came to see what a bank looks like from the inside.

The four employees who guided them had to dispel a few myths, for example that there is no gold stored in a bank and that a bank does not print money. On the other hand, the children surprised us with very bright answers to our questions. For example: - “What does a bank do?” – “It has a lot of money and helps children.”

We showed them computers with several monitors in the dealing room and explained what the dealers do. Our colleagues offered them a box with copper coins they had been collecting for one year as an incentive for the children to learn to save money. The young guests also visited the customer service room, where our cashier showed them how banknotes are protected, counted in a teller machine and vacuum packed. Each of the children was offered a bag of coins and asked to pack them into a roll. They were then allowed to take their rolls home as a souvenir.

The final questions “Did you like the visit?” and “Would you like to work in a bank?” were answered with a very loud shout: “Yes!”

Film show - Frycek

On Wedensday, 16 June SG CIB Poland employees assisted to the showing of a film entitled "Frycek" which reports workshops organised by students of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, scholarship holders of SG CIB Poland. During the workshops, which took place in April 2010, a group of 30 children from underprivileged districts of Warsaw had, in many cases, their first contact with musical instruments that they could touch and play for themselves. They listend to the young musicians from the "Magnolia Acoustic Quartet" and tried to perform with them. The workshops ended with the recording by the children of a rap song on Fryderyk Chopin (to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth) in a professional music studio in the company of the musicians.

Our special guests at the film show were the project coordinators from Stowarzyszenie Serduszko dla Dzieci and from the University of Music as well as the University students who contributed to the initiation of the children to the world of music. They shared their impressions from the workshops.
